Morocco's Cement Sales Drop by 5.3% in First Five Months of 2026

Morocco's cement sales fell 5.3% to 5.73 million tons in Jan-May 2026, with a sharp 20.64% drop in May alone. Ready-mix concrete, infrastructure, and mortar saw increases, while distribution, precast concrete, and building declined, according to the Housing Ministry.

Morocco's Cement Sales Drop by 5.3% in First Five Months of 2026

The Ministry of National Territory Planning, Urban Planning, Housing, and City Policy revealed that cement sales reached 5.73 million tons during the first five months of 2026, recording a decline of 5.3% compared to the same period last year.

The Ministry specified, in a document on the evolution of cement sales at the end of last May, that by category, sales intended for distribution amounted to 2.99 million tons (down 9.59%), followed by those intended for ready-mix concrete at 1.58 million tons (up 4.57%), precast concrete at 548,755 tons (down 12.74%), infrastructure at 405,338 tons (up 1.91%), building at 179,058 tons (down 0.08%), and mortar at 25,568 tons (up 2.54%).

During the month of May 2026 alone, cement sales fell by 20.64% to reach 1.21 million tons.

The note indicated that these statistics are derived from internal data of members of the Professional Association of Cement Companies, including Cement of Temara, Cement of Atlas, Cement of Morocco, Lafarge Holcim Morocco, and Novacim (a member since January 2024).
