Belgium Crushes Tunisia 5-0 in Final Friendly Before 2026 World Cup

Belgium secured a resounding 5-0 victory over Tunisia on Saturday in an international friendly match, part of both teams' preparations for the 2026 World Cup to be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Belgium took the lead in the 28th minute through Leandro Trossard, before his teammate Charles De Ketelaere added the second goal in the 53rd minute.

In the 65th minute, veteran Kevin De Bruyne scored Belgium's third goal, while Dodi Lukebakio added the fourth in the 85th minute.

Two minutes later, Nicolas Raskin completed the five-goal haul for Belgium, while Tunisia was affected by numerical disadvantage following the sending-off of their player Ismael Gharbi in the 62nd minute.

This friendly match served as the final preparation for both teams before the tournament. Tunisia will begin their campaign against Sweden on the 15th of this month in the first round of Group 6, which also includes the Netherlands and Japan.

On the other hand, Belgium will open their tournament campaign against Egypt on the same day, as part of Group 7, which also includes Iran and New Zealand.

Belgium took the initiative from the start, while Tunisia, led by coach Sabri Lamouchi, relied on some players who had not participated in their previous friendly match against Austria.

In the 28th minute, Leandro Trossard scored Belgium's first goal after his teammate Jérémy Doku penetrated from the left flank and delivered a cross that reached Trossard positioned in front of goal, who placed it into the net.

Belgium finished the first half in the lead but continued their attacking pressure in the second half seeking to extend their advantage, with occasional attempts from Tunisia.

In the 53rd minute, De Ketelaere scored Belgium's second goal. His teammate Youri Tielemans delivered a cross from the left flank, which De Ketelaere headed into the net of Tunisian goalkeeper Mouez Hassen.

Belgium maintained their dominance on the pitch and created numerous dangerous opportunities, while Tunisia managed only a few attempts that posed little threat to Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

In the 62nd minute, Tunisia's Ismael Gharbi was shown a red card following his strong challenge on Doku, leaving his team to complete the match with ten men.

Belgium capitalized on the numerical advantage, with Kevin De Bruyne scoring the third goal through a clever low-driven shot from outside the penalty area that found the back of the Tunisian net.

Dodi Lukebakio scored Belgium's fourth goal in the 85th minute, capitalizing on a ball set up for him by his teammate Romelu Lukaku in front of Tunisia's goal, placing it into the net.

Two minutes later, Nicolas Raskin scored Belgium's fifth goal, firing a shot from inside the penalty area that beat Mouez Hassen for the fifth time.

The remaining minutes of the second half witnessed no further changes, as the referee blew the final whistle signaling Belgium's 5-0 victory over Tunisia.
