Days before the start of the 2026 World Cup, the Jordanian national team received a heavy blow to its attacking line, after medical examinations confirmed the absence of one of its most prominent young players from the tournament due to an ankle ligament tear.
The Jordanian Football Federation officially announced the exclusion of striker Ibrahim Sabra from the final squad, causing Moroccan coach Jamal Sellami to lose a player he had heavily relied upon in the Al-Nashama's first World Cup appearance in their history.
This new blow comes just weeks after the team lost its top scorer, who suffered an ACL tear and was ruled out at an early stage. These two consecutive absences place Sellami in a real crisis in the final third of the pitch.
It is worth noting that Sabra (20 years old), who plays professionally in the Croatian league for Lokomotiva Zagreb, was among the names that strongly emerged during the qualifiers. He was classified as one of the most important attacking solutions for the Moroccan coach due to his speed and ability to adapt to multiple positions.
Consequently, Sellami finds himself forced to rely on the remaining trio: Mousa Al-Tamari, Ali Olwan, and Ali Azaizeh, alongside the return of Pyramids FC striker Al-Fakhouri to lead Al-Nashama's attack in a difficult mission.
It is worth mentioning that the Jordanian national team was placed in the so-called "fiery" Group 10, alongside the world champions Argentina, Algeria, and Austria, in their first World Cup appearance during which they need to harness all their capabilities.
