Egypt Falls to Brazil 2-1 in Final Friendly Before World Cup

The Egyptian national team suffered a 2-1 defeat against their Brazilian counterparts in the match held this morning at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, USA, marking the conclusion of both teams' preparations for the 2026 World Cup finals.

Brazil took an early lead in the 7th minute through midfielder Bruno Guimarães, following a mistake from Egyptian midfielder Mohanad Lasheen.

Egypt quickly equalized through Mostafa Zizo, who capitalized on a misplaced pass from defender Marquinhos and placed the ball into Alisson's net in the 11th minute.

The match saw Brazilian full-back Wesley sustain an injury, forcing coach Carlo Ancelotti to substitute him early in the 17th minute, bringing on Danilo instead.

Goalkeeper Mostafa Shobair excelled in the 26th minute, saving a certain goal opportunity following a one-on-one situation with Vinícius Júnior.

Shobair went on to deny two more dangerous chances from forward Igor Thiago and winger Raphinha.

Brazil regained their lead in the 52nd minute through forward Endrick, assisted by his teammate Raphinha, who had come on as a substitute for Igor Thiago at halftime.

The second half saw the participation of star Mohamed Salah for Egypt, replacing Haytham Hassan, while both teams made several other substitutions.

Zizo came close to equalizing for Egypt in the final seconds, firing a dangerous shot that narrowly missed the post.

It is worth noting that Egypt had won their first friendly match against Russia 1-0, thus concluding their preparations with a loss to Brazil, just before beginning their World Cup campaign.
